It's also important to realize the card benefits were very clearly designed to give one set of benefits to this with status, and a very different benefit to those without.

The US card equivalents give lounge access to everyone, but that doesn't really come with status. The AC cards have a very clear set of benefits meant for my dad, and a very clear set for me. There isn't a ton of overlap.
