Will respond in more detail later but personally preferred the location of the hilton for sightseeing.
wa is a nice hotel with very good breakfast ( this was the first hotel that upgraded me via the app to a junior suite then downgraded to a king deluxe with view ( still a 1 cat upgrade from entry level)
Berlin can be spread out and you are likely to need to use public transport at some time. It is very good and reasonably priced

I cannot add much to fransknorge's excellent suggestions but I did love walking out of the Hilton and being in the heart of the Gendarmenmark square and walkability to Museuminsel, Alexanderplatz ,Unter den Linden, the Brandenburg Gate and the Tiergarten
A couple of stops from the WA takes you to the gardens of Charlottenburg Palace
