Yikes! I am new to Flying Blue, but transferred over some AMEX points to take advantage of the reduced award prices and transfer bonus. I booked a flight, paid for seats, and then found better dates. Called and canceled the original booking within 24 hours so I could rebook, and now I'm worried that my points won't come back in time and that I'll just be out the money I paid for seats. The Flying Blue agent (I tried Air France first before being told they can't help with award tickets) told me they would post within 24 hours, but that has come and gone.
