LAX LHR (BA TBIT)) we have been at the gate around 15 mins a few times before and it was all ok most of the time.
But it was problematic on one occasion. Our preselected seats were reassigned to a couple of other customers.
In light of our experience, I would recommend 30 mins gate, for LAX LHR. And less stress.
