It looks like it's not TOO bad to take the BTS or MRT from both SGS/StR to get to near where some of the typical tourist locations (ie. Wat Pho, Grand Palace etc.)
For the SGS the MRT from Sukhumvit station to Sanam Chai is the best way to get to Wat Pho/Grand Palace, with the station being 2 blocks away. It's very easy to do, should be <40 Baht a person and is more importantly air conditioned. The STR is a little of a walk to the Silom station, and would then be a straight shot. Unless you want to do a transfer from the BRT to the MRT, which are two totally separate lines and require additional charge.
