Surprisingly few reports on the W here. I'm considering it vs. the JW vs. Conrad for a 3-night family stay after a cruise. Never been to Singapore before, so we want to do some touristy stuff but also enjoy just exploring in and around nice hotels/resorts. Any reason the W won't work for that?
The W is on Sentosa which is a resort island with a lot of theme parks. If you're looking for beach or villa style resorts, there are much better ones nearby in other countries accessible by plane. The W is more of a cookie cutter factory resort with a few hundred rooms overlooking a yacht marina. It can also be hard to call a car sometimes or require a much longer wait if heading back to the main island.
The other Bonvoy hotels are more centrally located and much easier to reach tourist destinations. My advice would be if you want to explore Sentosa, stay on Sentosa; if you want to explore the main island, stay on the main island.
