The changing situation over the last couple of years around when and when not to call BA to cancel Avios tickets makes for a confusing picture on all the other threads. Forgive me if I have missed a thread that actually unpicks this in a simple manner.

I have an Avios return ticket booked AFTER Jun 8th, for travel beginning BEFORE October 1st, but ending AFTER October 1st.

I believe that my ticket is refundable but for a £35pp redeposit fee. It is a CW RFS booking and £50pp was paid so I'm just expecting £15pp back.

The cancel option is open to me on the website, is there a reason why I wouldn't use that to effect this? How quickly would I expect the Avios to be returned. The ££'s I can wait on.
