Unlike midtown, where the places to walk are Times Square and the Theater District, the OP can walk easily to Chelsea, Chelsea Market, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village, and the rest of the city is just a train ride away. It’s not like they’re being confined to a residential area. They’re in the heart of the city!
I can see leaving Bryant Park, Hells Kitchen, 5th Ave, Grand Central, Columbus Circle and Central Park off of that list, but to diss Murray Hill like that? Ouch!
