Would 100% stay downtown. Subway from downtown (depending on where you stay and your destination) can be anywhere from 10-20 minutes to those locations. By no means a dealbreaker, but consider staying on the NRQW line as that line will likely result in the fewest (if any) transfers, given it criss-crosses Manhattan.
