I have taken a new fuel tank for a 1970s VW transporter in the hold with KLM. No issues at all just wanted confirmation it was empty, no fuel had been in it and the dimensions were fine.

As this was just after restrictions eased in 2020 the staff at the airport thought I had already paid for it so actually got it to my destination for free. Which was nice.
