Not surprisingly, those individuals who have great on-the job track record and references (and therefore are highly employable by others) and drive to succeed will take advantage of this offer -- leaving behind those whose performance is less-than-stellar and/or are seatwarmers.

This is more troubling than anything else I've seen about AA. You need good people to make good decisions, provide good service, and attract more good people. Deadwood will never hire good people, and will not provide good service nor make good decisions, but just continue down a deadly spiral.

RIP.
This (the concept) is nothing new. AA did this several times in the 80s. My job was never eligible. In my case (I was in IT) the thought of getting a year's salary to leave and go get a better job the next week was pretty appealing.
