I've never done it (only flew with the kids when they were older) but as I recall, having witnessed this many times flying at the front of the cabin in Y, the other disadvantage of the bassinet is that when the seatbelt sign is on the crew want the kid out of the bassinet. TATL flight the seatbelt sign is likely going to be going on a lot, you're better off with your kid in your arms at that point anyway versus trying to get them out of the bassinet and waking them up.
