The desks open officially four hours before departure. When I flew a few weeks ago, the desk staff were already assisting a few suites and business class passengers about 15 minutes before the remainder of the desks officially opened. There was already a pretty substantial line for the economy and premium economy cabins before the 4 hour mark hit.
Here is our scenario: We fly from CLE to JFK arriving at 1PM, then the JFK to FRA at 8:55. We will need to collect luggage and recheck it, but it seems like we can't do this until 4 hours prior is that correct? I have a platinum card so have access to most lounges so the wait is not a problem, just trying to figure out the most efficient way to do this. I've always booked overseas flights on the same airline straight through and never had to do the re-checking in. Thanks in advance for any tips!
