I have both sizes of the original issued military can openers, and NONE are accepted by the TSA or any other airport unless they don't see it coming through the line scan unit. I only check mine in checked luggage now after I've gotten them confiscated including a titanium spork with a sort of ridged end for cutting. The only thing that's complaint that I carry is a tiny Gerber Shard multitool for carryon, but I don't think there's anyway to use to open a can. I use it to cut water bottles open to use the base for a variety of things while traveling.
