FWIW I've been renting from Sixt for years, and have always submitted either a DL or AA frequent flyer number when reserving, but they never post the miles automatically. I suspect they deliberately do this to save whatever couple of dollars it costs to credit the 500 miles. Usually emailing them to request the mileage credit works, even though it's annoying.
