It seems trains to/from LHR will stop for up to 7 minutes outside Paddington whilst they "wait their turn" so weekend trains will be faster as there's fewer freight trains using the lines at the same time so less waiting

So if you can get a HEX ticket for £5.50, it will be cheaper, and quicker, to get HEX and swap at Paddington it seems for most trips.
