I don't believe this is the case. If everything is BA plated and operated and there is Avios availability, I would call BA and ask them to look at this again. Note that this actually still a revenue ticket, so the main BA contact centres should be able to handle this, but ideally you want someone who joined BA several years ago rather in the last few months.
By the way it would be helpful to either quote the reply to which you are responding, otherwise some of your posts look a bit odd.
