Let's get one thing out of the way - the W Seattle has some dated aesthetics, especially in the bathrooms. However, as long as you aren't expecting style, this is still a good property, IMO. Here are some pros, cons, and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded to a Spectacular Double room on the 24th floor - the hotel was fully sold out online, and at 9 AM, I was given the option to take a Corner King with no view or a Spectacular Double with a south-facing view - the agent apologized for the lack of options and seemed genuine
  • From a furniture perspective, the Double room was well appointed with a comfortable and long lounger by the window
  • The beds were fantastically fluffy with some sort of cloud-like mattress pad and very fluffy pillows - covers were right in the middle between thick and thin
  • Shower pressure was quite nice
  • No issue with 4 PM late checkout
  • Beautiful view - one of the highlights was seeing Mt. Rainier finally appear just as I was getting ready to checkout (I paused and sat down to enjoy the view for 5 more minutes)
  • Breakfast at Trace Market was quite delicious - wonderful cinnamon roll served out of a fresh cast-iron skillet (everyone was buying one), tasty and large vanilla latte made by a manager-looking type in a full suit, and tasty deconstructed chicken biscuit with fried egg and yummy gravy
Cons:
  • No Internet TV OS
  • Very dated bathroom that does not look like a W at all - it's functional, but just doesn't match the design direction of the brand
  • Breakfast prices at Trace Market have obviously increased since the last review - the $40 credit for 2 is really only useful for a real breakfast for 1 (most entrees were $16-$18, and my selections came out to about $37 after the included 15% service charge)
