I would ask the check in staff at MAN, without expectation, to check your luggage through.

The other issue you may have, although 4 hours is plenty of time, is that hardly anyone checks bags from MAN to LHR, as most are connecting onwards. This can lead to a delay in baggage arrival at the domestic carousel.
