However, I've been checking these same flights on UA's sites where they show standby's and upgrades they process and have seen anywhere from 0-8 seats getting upgraded.
Flight UA5 - 10/12/22
Flight UA952 - 10/22/22
For example, a UA952 flight today had 4 upgraded to Polaris, and only 1 upgraded to PP.
Either way, we are fine with PP, plus we can help contribute to this very helpful forum with a review of the PP bulkhead seats one way, last row seats on the other flight.
If it helps, from the receipt, UA5 is fare class A, and UA952 is fare class O.
Thanks!
Going from PP to Polaris has a much higher chance than going from Economy to Polaris but it does happen. Status level then Fare Class is how it is calculated.
Currently Platinum and I made the mistake of booking Economy and then using points shooting for Polaris only to wind up with PP. United does not differentiate the number of points used which really sucks.
However if you booked PP and trying to upgrade to Polaris on an international route it only costs 30 points instead of 40 points I found. Not much savings but it does work out to one more upgrade after 4 flights.
