i can connect on separate tickets according to the thread, but how does the terminal change situation work. It’s been several years since I was in HND airport but I don’t recall JAL/ANA being in the same terminal.

do I need to leave airside at all to transit ?
You shouldn't have any problems with this. A quick search shows BKK-HND on ANA (NH484) goes in to Terminal 3, and HND-ORD on JAL (JL10) goes out of Terminal 3. I believe NRT is the airport where ANA/JAL are in different terminals and there's airside transit between the two there, could have been in HND too but it's been too long since I've switched between the two to remember. Your flights look good to me.
