JNB>CPT>International flight connection - how tight is too tight?
Greetings,
I am planning a South African safari trip next summer (2023). Being based in the US, the UA direct flights from EWR and IAD to CPT are very appealing and often reasonably priced. However, my safari ends with a chartered flight to JNB. I am able to see a great price for RT IAD-CPT and would love to skip a European layover.
My question is: when flying JNB>CPT before my CPT>IAD leg, how much buffer do I need to build in for security, passport control, and walking about the terminal? Do Federal Air JNB>CPT flights run pretty well on time? The most convenient itinerary has my JNB>CPT flight arriving just 2 hours before CPT>IAD.... does that seem too tight to those who have flown internationally out of CPT? I had searched and found some comments about security taking about 20 minutes, but I'd appreciate any other perspectives.
TIA.
