Are you flying business or economy? If flying business, you can earn PPS qualification $ and United miles at the same time. I have been doing this for about ten years now.

If you are flying business on SQ, call and tell the agent that you would like the miles go to United and qualification goes to SQ.

if you are flying economy, just change it on the website or SQ app. If not, a call to SQ will work.
