One tip for restaurants. Get an account on The Fork (download the app) and make reservations via it when you can.

There's a restaurant we've been going to for years on Borgo San Jacopo. Corny name, Mamma Gina's, but has been a reliable good meal at a good price since the mid-90s. I used The Fork to make my reservation and it offered me 30% off to make the reservation. The restaurant had always been pretty reasonable so I didn't pay any attention to it - we had eaten there last October. But when we got there this time, the menu had changed (same dishes but a new look to the menu and the prices were up). Made me wonder if the restaurant had changed hands, etc. What seemed evident is that they'd raised prices to capture the margin on the tourist trade but, in order to mollify/attract the local trade, were offering discounts through The Fork, something tourists likely wouldn't use. Classic case of price segmentation to maximize margins. I wouldn't be surprised that lots of restaurants in tourist areas are doing this.

BTW - when the bill came, there was no discount so I told the server that the reservation had been made via The Fork and there was a 30% sconto, She checked and returned with an adjusted bill (knocked ~35 euros off the bill). The discount usually applies to food only, not beverages.
