Of my 16 AS segments this year, I have "waited on a gate" on at least 9 of those segments, with having to wait every single time at SEA... It's typically a 30+ minute delay and usually after arriving "early."

The reason I am ranting is because I had booked a 3-hour ish layover in LAX yesterday (SEA-LAX-LHR-DXB), so I could visit the recently reopened Qantas F lounge. My AS SEA-LAX connection left 2+ hours late and then sat on the tarmac at LAX for another 20 minutes "waiting on a gate." I literally ran from T6 to TBIT (as BA was paging me for the final boarding call). This was a super short work trip and I couldn't afford to miss my connection.... (I guess I could have took the Emirates direct flight ... but I hate Emirates old school business especially compared to BA's new club suite).

The worst part about all of this ... when I was checking I they told me of the delay and I was at the airport in enough time to rebook on the earlier (2:55pm) LAX flight. However, the check in agent couldn't figure out how to change the ticket because BA issued it. They couldn't even give me boarding passes for the BA connecting flights. Their response ... call BA. I tried. It was a never ending hold. So, in the end I legit almost missed my flight and was actually covered in sweat after my (what seemed like) 5k sprint through LAX. I'm a 1MM on UA and I've never experienced any of this nonsense with them (99% never had to "wait for a gate", they can change their own flights when on their metal due to IRROPS or other reasons even if booked through a partner, and they can issue partner boarding passes).

So, is it just me or is AS: (1) incapable of correctly assigning and reassigning gates; and (2) being a "global" airline and understanding how to work with its partners?
Have you flown thru LHR lately on BA? If you’re a narrow body you will wait for a hard stand almost every time. It’s the way of the aviation world. I hate waiting to deplane but not much you can do. Hubs are packed.
