Probably pent up demand. I just helped a friend plan a trip for the end of September, and it was wild to see mid-range hotels going for 4-500 euro a night. What used to get you the St. Regis now gets you a Doubletree. You folks in YVR know a thing or two about that Great city, btw, we came up for a long week in June and can't wait to return.
