In the land of no walking, most of the southern California airports are walkable (LAX, LGB, SNA, ONT, BUR) with LGB being the simplest. You walk out of the airport, across Lakewood Blvd and then along a block of Wardlow Rd that bisects a golf course, and then you're in a very nice, normal neighborhood. There's no "industrial" area built up around this side of the airport so you're not walking along major streets or through warehouse areas.
