This is especially true if you originally booked your flight weeks/months ago, flights have filled up since then and there's a high probability that if you cancel the original AA award the award space will never show up again.
That's my fear. I've scoured this thread for DPs and while many previously report inventory returning for phone agents, it seems like things have vanished since March (when I booked), especially now in August. I don't have a backup plan so I can't really chance it. Shame- I booked a few months before they switched to Avios.
