To anyone else reading this thread, going out of your way to try the QF F lounge at LAX is not a great idea. I’ve been to that lounge and despite the blogger hype it is not really anything to write home about.
Glad to hear that the QF F lounge isn’t that amazing - sounds like I didn’t miss too much

. But, yes I agree “luck” is sometimes the most important element in flying. I have had terrible, terrible luck on AS. Compared to my amazing luck on UA. Not a single flight cancelled, major delay, or missed connection on UA (in over 1MM on their metal). I’m sure at a certain point that my tides will change with that luck. I know plenty of people who have the opposite luck - so YMMV?
