For the last 10 or so years, ive been using a compression sack.
Lots of sizes, I have a few- but one that fits across the bottom of my carryon is the most useful
Initially it is empty, or maybe has some socks/undies in it, not compressed. Just packed
During my trip, ALL dirty laundry goes into the compression sack and is compressed. It is not unusual for me to get to the end of a week trip and have basically an empty suitcase, maybe one change of clean clothes eft- and a hard-as-a-brick compression sack with *all* the rest of my (dirty) clothes
I then can send that out for laundry, or its time to head home.
It is crazy to always come home with 'more space' in the suitcase.
Note this is not the "vacuum it out" compression bag...this is a backpacking item that uses mechanical straps to dramatically and forcefully crush the contents beyond anything you can do with cubes or sleeves. Think taking a full size sleeping back and stuffing it into a 6" round by 12" long tube
