I made no reference of an upgrade, just how those waitlist requests read.
They were operating in the context of the original schedule change. They probably didn't realize what you were asking -- or they didn't know the policy / process. Just say "I'd like to waitlist for I" (or IN if you're Plat or higher). People are still reporting success, although it may take a couple of tries.
