We're flying out to HND on Delta in D1 for a trip to Tokyo. We've decided to make a side trip while there to Osaka, so we're going to plan it so we clear customs/immigration then jump on flight to Osaka the day we first arrive into Japan.

I've been bouncing between JAL and ANA trying to figure out the domestic luggage situation.

On booking sites it mentions one bag allowed.. while on their own site I read it as no limit to bags but only if they all total under a certain weight? And if the total weight is above there was additional charges.

We all are going to have two bags each, so to trying to figure out if paying for a business class ticket is a better value than paying for the additional luggage...

I'm figuring I'm just over analyzing it... But help!!
it depends on the ticket you have.

You will have 2x23kg for Japan Explorer Pass

If it’s regular domestic fare, you have up to 20kg when traveling in economy. There is no limit on the number of pieces you can check in for free.(you can refer to the JAL express tag FAQ)
