If they start upgrading multiple person PNR's, there wouldn't be any seats available most of the time. Just one Diamond, traveling with 8 other people would use up a large majority of the seats in one fell swoop. Silver Medallion is way down the list of people with priority these days. You get priority seating, assuming you book early enough.
