I am planning to buy the $50 companion certificate from Ebay. Before I buy the certificate, I wanted to find out if this certificate can be used or not - when it's transferred to other person. When I called Alaska Airlines, customer service told me that the original owner of the certificate must purchase the ticket for my travel.

After writing e-mail to the seller and back and forth, he told me that I can just take this certificate to any travel agency and they should be able to make a reservation for travel.

Is this true? I would like to know if the certificate is transferrable.
