+-7 day is a rule but the preservind upgrade is a courtesy / practice, not a published rule. As you have stated in that past, sometimes it took multiple tries to get this. UA may be tighten up on this, but with knowing how much you were trying to stretch this, it ii hard to understand what was happening. (OP has now added it was 6 days) But moving more than a adjacent day on a route with multiple daily options is beginning to feel like taking advantage of the schedule change rules. If this was becoming common, it is not surprising UA felt the practice was being abused.
