Rosewood London: Holborn House

Introduction The main purpose of this review is to post some detailed review info about the Rosewood London's Holborn House suite, since I have not seen any comprehensive room pictures online (just a few pictures from Rosewood's site).Otherwise, several other posters have already posted great reviews of Rosewood London, including m0hamed's very recent excellent review. I agree with his positive assessment about the hotel, and I won't spend too much time rehashing other info. Room The Holborn House suite is on floor #1 close to the central stairway. The view faces the interior hotel courtyard. The Holborn House suite has a powder room and lacquered coat closet / umbrella closet / storage in the entry area. The first thing you notice is the large living area accentuated by the 12 ft. ceilings. It really is striking in person given how tall the room is.The living area enters into the "gallery" area where they have a round dining table and the standard Rosewood London minibar cabinet with two Subzero integrated refrigerator drawers. The gallery leads into the bedroom area with a king size bed and two low seating areas on either side of the bed. From the bedroom there are steps up to the makeup / area with a power outlet for a hairdryer (tucked away in a drawer).Following the narrow mirrored corridor past the makeup area leads to the large shower suite and soaking tub.The shower is truly enormous with a central rain shower and adjustable hand shower on the wall. The opposite wall has a large bench.Following the corridor to the left there is a WC.Finally there are steps down into a very large closet / dressing area with tons of storage space, shoe space, space for hanging clothes, etc.At the far end of the closet is a butler's entrance where they can deliver and fetch your bags directly from the closet / storage area.Overall the Holborn House is a very well-appointed suite! The 12 ft ceilings in most of the suite make it seem extra spacious. A few caveats to note:The bathroom area around the sinks is somewhat tight for a suite of this size. Most of the bathroom space is dedicated to the massive shower. The steps up from the bedroom into the bathroom area and the steps down into the closet means people have to pay attention when they are walking. There are always-on subtle green lights in the ceiling that prevent things from being completely dark at night. There is no door separating the bedroom from the bathroom corridor, so there is always some (small) residual light from the safety lights, and if someone uses the main bathroom at night there would be some more light. If you need to do a lot of computer work while in the hotel room, you can use the low seats next to the bed, or the makeup area, or the dining table, but there's no ideal space; each has various tradeoffs. For example, the dining table would be too high for me ergonomically with the seating provided. The Noble House suite is on the same floor (#1) and nearly the same size but has a very different layout. You can see the layout and full 3D virtual tour on the Rosewood site. The Noble House has a much more traditional bathroom layout, so I'm guessing the layout and shape of the raised bathroom area in the Holborn House was driven by the need to put plumbing drains in parts of the original historical building that weren't naturally intended to have plumbing. Service As previous reviews have mentioned, the service is excellent here and for me it was the highlight of the stay. They did a fantastic job, and I'm pretty detail-oriented. It definitely stood out as memorable to me. Dining We tried a variety of food via room service; everything was good and some of it was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the french toast. I also asked for room delivery of some of the items on the Holborn Dining Room menu because I wanted to try the English pies. My favorite was the hand raised pork pie! [pictured here is the curried mutton pie]We did Dali Art High Tea at the Mirror Room, and the pictures are from the two sweet courses.
