After reading this thread, UA catering is out behind a Chicago NTW right now, picking some Polaris appetizer material out of a recycling bin. I had sea cucumber in Guanzhou couple of years ago. Pretty inoffensive, taste-wise, but it is indeed like chewing on a piece of tire.
LOL - good description -- wasn't a bad taste -- just the texture I guess -- after chewing for what felt like five minutes I just bit the bullet and swallowed -- nothing I could do would break that thing down....
