With the Sheraton being almost half the price it wasn't worth it for me to switch to the Marriott. Judging from the pictures in this thread the Marriott in general looks newer however and is also connected to Hartono Mall, whereas you have to take a car to get anywhere from the Sheraton.
For airport shuttle keep in mind that Adisutjipto airport was replaced by Yogyakarta International, which is a 40 min train ride southwest of Yogyakarta.
I am not sure if the renovation of Sheraton hhs been completed now. I was shown the new room design when I was there couple years back. The new room design is very minimalist, but it removes the Javanese element The only thing that you will see is the Borobudur "3D" pictures.
I wonder how the new suite will look like.
Like someone said, the main airport has moved, so I doubt Sheraton is still providing shuttle service anymore.
