No hawker centres nearby that I am aware of. Suntec City mall is walkable right across the street. ) I think everything is standard mall fare. I can't get good Hainanese chicken where I live, so I pretty much ate at Sergeant Chicken at least once a day (lunch, snack, whatever). Yakiniku Go Plus was good, but the price didn't really match the ambiance. Was a bit crowded, a bit rushed.
I honestly think Tim Ho Wan and Din Tai Fung to be overrated. I've tried their locations throughout Asia. I agree with you on the chicken rice. I absolutely need to have a plate of chicken rice and a bowl of Laksa when I'm in Singapore. I don't care what anyone has to say, but I'll find the time to go there just because nothing in North America compares.
I've never been to Suntec before. Decent mall? Good food inside?
