Frontier is a “no go” for me. Last time we flew them, the passengers next to me tried to bully our family into giving up our seats, which I paid extra for, so their friends could sit closer to them. In response, the flight attendants asked me if we would consider letting the bullying passengers have their way, even though it would have meant splitting our family up. We politely declined, leaving the passengers next to me seething for the rest of the flight.
I don’t know the day you’re traveling but I see a lot of $150-$200 direct flights on United, with some at 11.8K mile redemptions. If you didn’t want to pay cash, transferring points from Chase would work if you have them.
For me I would never pick a 1-stop flight if there were cheap nonstop options. Too many risks these days of not getting to your destination. Plus why waste precious time in flight and at airport?
Understand your concerns about Frontier, however I got a status match to their top tier last year so have flown them 2-3 times to and from DEN. Experience has been fine except for the hard seats
