There also appears to be some softness in domestic bookings starting a couple weeks ago. WN and AS both have fare sales on right now. I've been paying quite a bit less for my tickets than I was two or three months ago.
So I think it's maybe 50-50 we see some kind of end of year promotion. Doubt it would be as generous as last year's though.
I believe that UA will indeed offer a much more targeted promotion this year -- to specific markets or customers (corporate) where they feel they have a chance to gain meaningful share. In a flat to declining market -- gaining share is the only way to grow.... And I agree -- business travel is not recovered to the levels of pre-COVID -- leisure travel exploded and broke the global system as people were fed up with being stuck home -- but business travel pays for most things in the airline business -- and business customers are the target -- so I would give it more like 70/30 there will be a promotion to steal share -- likely to the EU / SA / Domestic F premium routes....
Those of you who've been around a while know that I'm a
Kardashian Level GS -- so no promotions for me -- like, ever....
