Fair points; I don’t disagree as to the quality of the existing HR. I think there is demand for two Hyatt’s close by; I just have never seen a scenario in which the same flag of a chain is so close by. I can think of say Denver that has a HR and GH close but not two of the same flag. Would be curious to stay at Irvine when it’s renovated and compare the two.
HR SF Embarcadero and HR SF SOMA are the closest I’m aware of. Less than a mile.
With the GH SF Union Square they didn’t have another “convention” flag available.
Surprised the ownership of all three hotels went for it.
