I just spent 10 nights at Marriott Pinnacle while I was at a conference at the Vancouver Convention Centre and it was generally a very good stay.

I would normally book a basic king, but I ended up in a high/view room during booking. I think because of my Platinum status, I was assigned a corner (2419), with a nice view to the south and west. I meant to take a photo of the room layout plan posted next to the elevators, but forgot. Each floor is laid out like an H with the elevators along the center bar of the the H and the hallways being the long parts of the H. Corners include these 2 definitely: xx11 and xx19.

My xx19 was similar to Guest room, 1 King, Cityscape view, High floor on the Marriott website except the room part was a bit bigger (the chairs was more in the center of the room as you entered and the space in front of the windows was open) and my bathroom was interior without a window. In-room WiFi was bad to terrible the whole time, and I probably should have complained, but I didn't do much work in the room. (This was the only part of my stay that was truly bad.) Water pressure was good in the separate shower and the water was hot. The two upholstered chairs were good, the task chair so so, and I found the bed to be very comfortable. I had to push the A/C a bit lower than typical (maybe the thermostat was off), but it kept the room cold.

While the lounge is open throughout the day, it is only for drinks/snacks. Beverages include bottles/cans (water (still and sparkling), pepsi products, juice (orange, apple, and grapefruit), plus carafes of Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea is available. Snacks included whole fruit, Nutrigrain bars (and there was maybe another granola type bar), and potato chips.

Hot food service is in Showcase, the lobby restaurant. I was given two vouchers for breakfast and appetizers for each day.

Breakfast was a hot buffet with: cajun potatoes (fairly bland), scrambled eggs, sausage links, bacon, and usually french toast (I never looked at the last item closely to see if it rotated. The rest definitely did not rotate and was fine, but not great. A made to order omelet station which was somewhat better. A large display of cut fruit, that was generally very good. Various yogurts/yogurt drinks. A little bit of charcuterie. Bread/croissants/muffins. They would serve orange juice/coffee/etc at your table.

Appetizers in the evening was a slightly rotating menu of 6 options that you could take in the restaurant/bar, pick-up at the host station, or have delivered to your room. There were french fries, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, green salad, fish tacos, and a few other things I have forgotten, plus the 2nd best chicken wings I've ever had. I ended up having the wings 5 times over the 10 nights (maybe 6). I sometimes gave an order to my co-workers and we would joke as each person thought they would only eat a few, but then every time the person would polish off the whole order of 10 wings by themself. Really, really amazing soy ginger wings that were fully addictive (although if eating in the restaurant, I would ask for the sauce on the side and it isn't necessary). I would classify all of the appetizer options as either 'good-sized' or 'large'. I did eat dinner in the restaurant one night after a 13-hour day and I will say all of the evening offerings (appetizers and mains) were great (where the breakfast was more just fine.)

Around the hotel I ate at: JOS for pizza (very good), Heritage Asian Eatery for chili wontons and gai lan (very good), Kamei Royale for sushi/don bowls (don't go as mediocre rice). Tap & Barrel at the convention center and North Vancouver were very good. We grocery shopped at Urban Fare 2 blocks away from the Marriott and there is a Shoppers Drug Mart 2 blocks away as well.

Other miscellaneous things: elevators were generally fast and I only had to wait a bit on a couple of occasions (which happened to be check-in and check-out). Staff were generally very friendly and responsive and some of the restaurant waitstaff were terrific. When I have to go back from something at the convention centre, I would definitely be happy to stay here again as a Marriott elite with the good sized room, very good elite food options, location, and nice staff.
