Lose the FNA and the January 1st 5 TQN. I’m relatively aggressive with credit card applications and SUBs, was planning to close this account in March or April after annual TQNs posted on 1/1/23 and anniversary FNA posted on 2/28/23, planning on another (annual) 5 TQN with a new account a few months later. Managed to (briefly) forget all that planning when I called to cancel. The best laid plans ….

I’ve done it (reallocate 100% of CL, they call any reallocation “consolidation”) several times, dislike leaving money on the table. Pretty sure they allowed it due to zero balance for several months, cannot move 100% if there’s any balance (posted or pending) i.e. any CL is currently being used.

Don’t “need” to but probably prudent. In 20/20 hindsight, it’s a great service (regarding possibly reopening the account) that they’re doing if they tell you it’s mandatory, obviously wish this time they had told me ... and I bought it .

Agree completely. Yes, absolutely a risk, a well calculated risk that I took based mainly on my perception of outstanding credit history across all issuers and lenders and particularly with Chase. And of course the fact that I’m relatively compulsive and “I hate it when that happens” .
