Data point- tl:dr- eye emergency surgery. cancelled cruise 1 day before departure June 7. Chase trip cancellation insurance paid $16,878 for 2 people today by check. Roughly 2 months and 8 days. Card CSR. Now my new best friend.

If you have not read upthread. Had onset retinal tear morning of June 7. Knew what it likely was (retired physician). Called in and got to see retinal specialist that day (helps to be integrated in the system). Laser surgery that day. Asked for and received copy of medical records for the emergency visit before I left the office. Med records are your property. Cancelled trips and air (one eyed cancellation) within 24 hours. Looked at this thread and downloaded all the forms. One week follow up, I had filled out the attending physician form, and all he had to do was sign it. All the eye abbreviations that were in the medical records I found with Google, and I spelled them out on the form. Got all the receipts, and uploaded everything. I did a couple of phone calls over the next few weeks and was told everything needed had been uploaded. I think the delays may be due to 1) higher reimbursements close to the limits may go through multiple reviews. 2) Higher reimbursements may require independent confirmation from the physician office. I got exactly what I asked for without a fight. Very pleased.

Question- Does anyone know if the $20,000 limit is calendar year?
