So my wife and I had a round trip booked and after 4 hours of delays, the outbound was cancelled. We needed to get to the destination so ended up booking a rental car and drove there. We then took the return flight as originally scheduled.

I don't think delta will reimburse rental car, but what's right email to try to get some points or credits at least?

More importantly, though, this was all booked on the CSR and I'm curious if trip interruption insurance would cover the rental car expense. It seems trip delay would not since the flight was from our home city.
