I too try and hit all spending thresholds by my November statement close, just in case. I want to have December to adjust as needed, although thankfully havent had to yet.

I do believe the technology would be pretty simple, since Chase can easily tell you what you spent YTD. My guess is when they send the info the Hyatt they just say 2021 night vs 2022 night, and it get credited properly. I would never personally chance it, even knowing its worked for others, just not worth the risk to me, if I needed them.

I do like how AMEX will give you the night/points immediately upon hitting the threshold, unlike Chase. It takes some of the fear out of the game. Like when I hit 15k on my Hilton card, it shows me within 2 days that I qualified and I get the certificate within 2 days of that. Since I know they have the clear tracker, I am less nervous about waiting until mid-december to hit that.
