Here's additional info. Looks like SIA will also have "live" TV in 6 months.
SINGAPORE (AFP) - Singapore Airlines (SIA) passengers will be able to surf the web or catch up with their emails when high-speed inflight Internet services come on board next year, the carrier said.
In a team-up with Connexion by Boeing, a business unit of the US aircraft maker Boeing, the broadband service will initially be available on selected SIA Singapore-London flights from the first quarter of 2005.
SIA is planning to expand the service to include 'live' global television news channels on board its flights in the middle of next year.
"We are all very excited and eagerly looking forward to the first quarter of next year when ... the first three of SIA's Boeing 747-400 aircraft will be equipped with wireless broadband capability," said Yap Kim Wah, senior vice president for product and services.
"The service will be progressively introduced to our fleet. In total, more than 40 aircraft will be equipped with this in-flight technology."
Passengers will have to pay for the service, with unlimited access to the Internet on flights of more than six hours costing 29.95 US dollars.
Unlimited access on flights of between three and six hours will cost 19.95 dollars and 14.95 dollars for flights of less than three hours.
A metered option will also be available, starting at 7.95 dollars for the first 30 minutes and 25 cents for every extra minute.
