Yes, for Champagne to be called Champagne, it has to be grown and vinified within the satellite of Champagne. Cremant is made in the exact same process of Champagne. There are some very very nice Cremants out in the marketplace

That is NOT Champagne. It is Crémant de Loire. And it's 10 bucks or less in France.
From my memory United stopped serving Champagne sometime right after 9/11.
