I would say LH is stricter on carry-on sizing ex-Germany than outstations, but best to not bend the rules.

As for the level of service and catering, LH in Y is the same rubbish as United Airlines. Eat before boarding and keep your expectations low. It's just a long-hop over the ocean to get to your destination, and don't even expect punctuality.
